The Realities of Miss Bethie

Time for a little R&R, then a need for even more.

Today Mom and I decided to have a little R&R and have some manis and pedis--we both had gift certificates.
It was wonderful and relaxing, except for the little brat whose mother thought her daughter's loud, rambunctious behavior was cute and precious in a spa. That's a whole 'nother bag of worms, though.
While relaxing and getting my hand massage and paraffin treatment, in total bliss, I hear my mom talking to her manicurist. The manicurist asked if I had any children...because Mom had been expounding on the perfection of her middle son's (aka "the golden child") daughter. (And to be fair, his daughter is nearly perfection.)
"No, Bethie is still looking for Mr. Right. Aren't you dear? She just isn't having any luck."
By that point, I needed to start the entire relaxation process over!
On the brightside, my manicurist is newly pregnant at the age of 38. Maybe there is hope for me yet to have the family I hope to have someday!

  • I just pictured Doris Roberts there, LOL! She means well, Beth!
Bet your nails are all sassy, got any hot dates this weekend?

  • Sadly, no dates this weekend.
(and is it just a coincidence that I often type dare instead of date? Probably.)

She does mean well, and I know she wants more grandkids, but criminy...I am depressed about my quest for Mr. Right as it is!

And, for the record, B3 hasn't called or e-mailed since that last time. :( Methinks he isn't overly interested. Damn.

  • His lose!
I totally agree with you about the child running around. I never blame the child for any of it. It is the parent.
I have two children myself and they know better than to misbehave out in public. I would never beat them but they know that A) they will be in for some kind of punishment when they get home. B) They will never go to where we were unless they really proved to me that they can behave like a little human being and not a wild animal. It just drives me crazy how some of these kids are left to run free!
I can go on forever on this subject.
Nails sound great. I really need to try a pedi. I usually do all my nail grooming at home myself....because I HATE feet!

  • I know you hate feet.
If we were at a zoo, a park, Chuck E. Cheese, I wouldn't have a problem with the brat. But at a spa? grown ups go there to relax. Many go there for an hour away from kids. It just seems inappropriate--and I love kids!

  • Just to vouch for Marie...her daughter was so well behaved last year at the camping trip - the poor thing looked so cold and wouldn't even complain about it. She was just perfect! When I have children, I want Marie to raise them LOL
Bethie -i totally agree about kids running around in places that they shouldn't - run and play in a playground NOT in a spa or a supermarket.

  • Peggels, I am sure when you and Mr. Peggels have kids, they will be raised right!

But Marie totally rocks, and her niece and now her nephew are also lucky because I know she spends a lot of time with them, too!
